The Exeter Humanities Institute offers teachers an opportunity to experience the student-centered, discussion-based Harkness pedagogy of Phillips Exeter Academy. Living together on Exeter’s campus for five days, participants learn as students and reflect as teachers.

2026 Conference Leadership
The conference is led by a team of teachers in the fields of English and History.
Keynote Speakers
All conference participants are invited to attend keynote talks. Opening keynote speaker is Logan McCarty, associate dean of science education at Harvard University. The closing keynote is Diane Ackerman, poet, naturalist, and author of The Planets: A Cosmic Pastoral.
