As a current social studies teacher, I am excited to share the incredible potential of Artificial Intelligence to greatly enhance teaching and learning in secondary social studies classrooms. I can't wait to share the best of what I and my students have found most effective.
Nothing can replace the impact we as social studies teachers have on our students and their learning. I remember when everyone said Google, SparkNotes, and Wikipedia would ruin education! In short, they didn't. Though our pedagogy becomes more nuanced with AI, we'll look at ways to stay grounded. We'll explore how AI is an exciting development with the power to actually make our jobs as social studies teachers easier.
During our day together, you will learn how to harness the power of this transformative technology to greatly enhance your social studies curriculum. Through interactive and hands-on activities, we'll explore practical strategies to help you easily integrate AI tools into your everyday work as a social studies teacher. And you'll get to connect with a diverse group of educators from across the country interested in using AI in social studies.
We will explore the ways AI can enhance student motivation, creativity, and critical thinking. You will leave with practical and innovative ways to incorporate AI into your classroom instruction, as well as a deeper appreciation for the possibilities for leveraging AI technology to enhance social studies education.
I look forward to partnering with you on this journey.
P.S. I will empty my teacher toolbox as we deep dive into AI. You'll leave ready to hit the ground running with great, practical ways to use AI in your social studies classroom!
