Bridge Programs: Creating Advanced Language Pathways from High School to College (Oct. 13)

Presenters: Jill Landes-Lee, L2TReC, University of Utah; Gregory Fulkerson, Delaware Department of Education. Discover how Bridge Programs are expanding opportunities for Dual Language Immersion students, Heritage Learners, and advanced World Language learners in high school. Learn about the innovative models in Delaware and Utah that connect high school and higher education through upper division coursework, dual/concurrent credit, and K–16 partnerships, creating seamless pathways to continued language study and boosting career readiness and degree completion. Learning Goals/Outcomes: I can define what a K-16 Bridge Program is and how it benefits K-12 students, communities & universities. I can access a “toolbox” of research/data and program documents that supports upper division university coursework for students in grades 10-12. I can identify critical next steps to build my Bridge Program: identify stakeholders, course prerequisites, courses/curriculum, university credit and postsecondary placement in a degree pathway.
