Acceptance of terms
PD Guide is a free, public directory of professional development for independent school educators. By using the site, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
The site is meant for adults working in schools. It is not directed at children under 13, and it asks for no personal information from anyone.
These terms may change. Changes take effect when posted, and the date above shows when they were last revised. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
Independence and no endorsement
PD Guide is an independent project. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, PD Guide is not affiliated with, authorized by, sponsored by, or endorsed by the organizations listed on this site. Nor does PD Guide sponsor, endorse, or recommend any organization it lists.
All organization names, brand names, and trademarks displayed on this site are the property of their respective owners. Their use here is solely to identify source organizations and direct educators to their offerings. Unless clearly disclosed, their use does not imply any affiliation, partnership, sponsorship, or endorsement.
Inclusion in this directory is not a recommendation, endorsement, or guarantee of any organization, event, or program, or of its quality, content, or value. PD Guide does not evaluate, accredit, or assess the quality of listed organizations or their offerings. Payment is not one of the criteria for listing. PD Guide currently does not use affiliate links or promoted placements; if that changes, any affiliate link or promoted placement will be labeled where it appears. Any decision to register, pay, or attend is made at your own discretion and risk.
Event listings are aggregated from publicly available sources, and descriptions come from each host organization’s own published materials. Both are provided for informational purposes only. PD Guide makes no representations as to accuracy, completeness, or currency — including dates, pricing, formats, or availability. Topics, audiences, regions, and cost labels shown on this site are assigned automatically and may be incomplete or wrong; the host organization’s own listing is authoritative. Always confirm details directly with the host organization before registering.
Third-party links and content
Every listing links to the host organization’s own website. PD Guide does not control those sites and is not responsible for their content, their availability, their privacy or data practices, or the programs they offer.
Any registration, payment, correspondence, or other dealing with a listed organization is solely between you and that organization. Their terms, refund policies, and privacy practices govern that relationship, not these terms.
Disclaimer of warranties
The site and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. PD Guide disclaims all implied warranties, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
PD Guide does not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that the information on it is accurate, complete, or current. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PD Guide is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising out of or relating to your use of the site or your reliance on anything found on it — including any dealing with a listed organization.
This limit applies regardless of the legal theory on which a claim is based and even if PD Guide has been advised that such damages are possible. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Indemnification
If your use of this site, or anything you send through it, breaks these terms or the law and leads to a claim against PD Guide, you agree to cover the resulting costs, including reasonable legal fees. This does not apply to claims arising from PD Guide’s own gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Acceptable use
The site is meant to be browsed and searched by people looking for professional development. Please do not:
- Copy the directory wholesale, or republish a substantial part of it as a competing directory or dataset
- Frame or embed this site, or present its listings as part of another site
- Access the site in a way that places an unreasonable load on it
- Misrepresent an affiliation with PD Guide, or use the site to mislead others
- Submit false information, malware, or anything unlawful through the forms on this site
Ordinary use — reading listings, sharing a link, saving an event, telling a colleague — is welcome and needs no permission.
PD Guide may block access to anyone using the site in the ways described above, or in any other way that puts the site, its visitors, or the organizations it lists at risk.
Intellectual property
PD Guide does not claim rights in the events themselves or in the descriptions published by host organizations. The selection, arrangement, and categorization of the directory, the taxonomy used to tag events, and the site’s own text and design are the work of PD Guide and are protected as a compilation and as original content.
You are welcome to read, search, save, print, and share what you find here for your own or your school’s use, and to link to any page on this site. That permission does not extend to reproducing the directory itself, or any substantial part of it, for other purposes. All other rights are reserved.
User submissions
The feedback form and the organization suggestion form are the two places you can send something to PD Guide. When you submit through either one, you confirm that you have the right to share what you send, and you give PD Guide permission to use it to operate and improve the site — including adding a suggested organization to the directory. Please do not include personal information in what you write; the forms do not ask for any.
Submissions are not treated as confidential, and sending one creates no obligation to act on it or to reply. Suggested organizations are reviewed against the criteria described on the Organizations page, and not every suggestion is added.
Privacy
PD Guide does not ask for personal information. The forms on this site have no fields for a name, an email address, or any other contact detail, and there are no accounts to create. Anything written into a message is stored with that message, so please leave personal details out of what you send. Submissions to both forms are deleted after six months. Because nothing on the form identifies who sent a submission, PD Guide cannot reply to one directly; to get a reply, email the address on the contact page instead. If you email the contact address, your message and email address are kept in PD Guide's inbox so it can reply.
The site keeps simple tallies, so the directory can be improved: how often each event’s link to its organization is clicked, which searches find nothing, and which filters are used. These tallies are not tied to individual visitors and hold no names, email addresses, IP addresses, or other identifiers of their own. A search that finds nothing is kept as typed, so please leave personal details out of searches.
Separately, the companies that host the site and its database, Vercel and Supabase, keep short-lived server logs as part of running their services. Like most web server logs, these record the IP address each request came from. PD Guide does not copy these logs or use them to identify visitors.
Search also matches by meaning, not only exact words. To do that, the words of each search are sent to Voyage AI, a search-technology company, which turns them into numbers PD Guide compares against listings. Only the search text is sent, with nothing that identifies who searched, and PD Guide does not use searches for advertising.
PD Guide sets no advertising or tracking cookies and uses no third-party analytics. Its fonts are served from this site, so pages make no requests to outside font services. As with any website, the hosting provider keeps standard server logs, and so does Supabase, the database provider, which receives form submissions directly from your browser. PD Guide does not use these logs to identify visitors.
Copyright complaints and removal requests
If a listing about your organization, or one that names you as a presenter, is wrong, out of date, or you would rather not be listed or named at all, get in touch through the contact page and it will be corrected or removed.
If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, send a notice to that same email address identifying the work, the material in question and where it appears, your contact information, and a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized. Material subject to a valid notice will be removed.
Modifications to the site
PD Guide may add, change, pause, or remove any listing, organization, or feature at any time, and may stop offering the site altogether. Listings come and go as source organizations publish and close their programs.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the site will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California.
The site is run from the United States for educators working in US independent schools. Nothing here is offered on the basis that it is lawful or appropriate anywhere else, and anyone reading from outside the country is the one who has to judge that.
General provisions
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. A delay in enforcing any part of these terms is not a waiver of it. These terms are the entire agreement between you and PD Guide regarding your use of the site.
