Workshop Description

In this workshop, we will explore free HHMI BioInteractive resources through an interdisciplinary investigation of lactase persistence. Using evidence-based practices, we will demonstrate how three-dimensional, phenomenon-driven instruction makes student learning visible. Participants will engage with key science practices—such as data analysis and constructing explanations—while modeling classroom strategies that help students master core biological concepts and prepare for the Ohio Biology End-of-Course (EOC) Assessment. Throughout the day, workshop participants will engage as practitioners to reflect on how to incorporate and adapt resources and strategies shared in the workshop into their classes to deepen student understanding of concepts in genetics, inheritance, and evolution.
