About this event

This seminar presented by outstanding ELA teacher and best-selling author Trevor Aleo is an exciting opportunity to explore the latest developments in Artificial Intelligence and their specific applications in grades 6-12 English/Language Arts classrooms. Examine ways to take full advantage of everything AI has to offer, while taking a proactive, ethical approach to its use. Gain hands-on experience with AI tools perfect for creating engaging lessons and supplementary materials, streamlining administrative tasks, supporting student inquiry, research, and writing, differentiating instruction for more personalized feedback, and much more! All the strategies, templates, and AI tools shared are ones that Trevor has successfully used himself or with his ELA students, so they are classroom tested, and ready to implement or adapt to your specific needs.

Join Trevor for a highly practical day filled with the best ways to use AI tools to strengthen your ELA students' learning, streamline grading and assessments, enhance your instruction, and improve your productivity.

Despite my being a tech-loving ELA teacher, ChatGPT felt like it came out of nowhere! In the wake of COVID, declining student engagement, and growing questions about technology's role in education, many teachers are understandably leery about yet another paradigm shift. Learning how to harness these tools, however, can help us re-center the human parts of our profession that brought us to the ELA classroom in the first place.

I can't wait to share all the ways I've leveraged generative AI to be a more creative planner, more efficient communicator, and overall better ELA teacher. Whether you're an experienced enthusiast looking to go deeper or a hesitant AI newbie trying to figure things out, this seminar will leave you with a ton of great ideas, tools, and strategies you can bring back and use right away in your classroom.

I have designed this seminar specifically based on my own personal use of AI tools in my secondary English/Language Arts classroom. Our day together will be full of plenty of real-world ELA examples and anecdotes to support the myriad of great AI tools I will share. Though I'm certainly a believer in AI's potential for transformative work, we'll also devote time exploring how we can take a proactive approach to addressing ethical concerns with the use of AI in secondary ELA classrooms.

I look forward to sharing the best AI tools and strategies you can easily use the very next day in your ELA classroom to strengthen your instruction and save time, while increasing your students' engagement and learning. I cannot wait for you to see and experience these incredible tools and strategies firsthand!

P.S. As a current ELA teacher, I'm uniquely positioned to speak about the potential benefits and pitfalls to avoid. Join me for a fun, informative, and practical day on AI in the ELA classroom!
