About this event
This NEW one-day institute is designed to empower school leaders and trainers to better support their teachers as they implement AI ethically and responsibly. Andy Mann will share all that you need, from developing policies to protect student privacy and data in an AI environment, to practical AI tools that will help reduce workload and improve student outcomes. You'll gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art AI-based platforms, learning how to use these tools to create personalized learning experiences, craft differentiated assessments, and provide timely, targeted feedback.
We'll explore how AI can help teachers manage tasks such as grading and lesson planning more efficiently, enabling them to focus more on student interaction and fostering a classroom environment built on critical thinking and creativity. As we navigate the use of AI in education, we'll also discuss how to maintain a balance between innovation and academic integrity, helping you craft policies for responsible AI use in your classrooms. You'll leave the institute with practical, effective strategies, templates and more – that you can showcase in staff training or use personally – for using AI assistants and teacher apps to enhance teaching, engage students, and save time, while also ensuring students learn to use AI ethically and responsibly.
I'd like to personally invite you to participate in this one-day institute on AI designed specifically for Grades 6-12 with a focus on school leaders and trainers. AI is rapidly changing the landscape of teaching and learning, and while this transformation can feel overwhelming, now is the perfect time to learn how to harness its incredible potential while addressing its challenges.
With over 30 years of experience as a secondary teacher, tech director, and educational technology specialist, I'm excited to share practical, actionable strategies that will make integrating AI into your classrooms easier and more effective. AI tools promise to save educators hours each week – imagine what your teachers could do with that extra time to build deeper connections with your students or focus on the aspects of teaching they love most.
In this institute, you'll explore how to use AI to enhance teaching and learning, including strategies for teaching responsible AI use, developing AI policies, and creating assignments that incorporate AI in a meaningful way. You'll also understand the limitations of AI, including its biases and "hallucinations," and how to guide students in using it responsibly.
Throughout the day, we'll dive into hands-on projects, where you'll get to use AI tools directly, so you can walk away confident and prepared. Before the institute, I'll share a list of AI apps you can set up in advance so you'll be prepared for hands-on learning opportunities.
P.S. You'll leave with a full toolkit of AI resources you can begin using the next day for your next staff training or your personal use. You'll receive an extensive digital resource handbook and a copy of my training material with rights to reuse and customize for your training needs.
