Reimagining Care: A Nature-Based Approach to Decolonizing Restorative Practices
This presentation is an invitation to therapists and helping professionals to reimagine their personalized concept of self-care through a Nature-Based lens. This experiential presentation challenges the dominant, individualistic, and commodified narratives of self-care that often perpetuate burnout and disconnection.
Participants will begin by expanding their understanding of self-care beyond human-centered frameworks, observing how the natural world models themes like rest, resilience, and reciprocity. Through guided reflection and discussion, we will identify and deconstruct internalized cultural messages that equate self-worth with productivity and constant giving.
By reconnecting with the body’s innate rhythms and natural cycles, attendees will learn to cultivate sustainable, restorative practices that honor both personal and community well-being. The session emphasizes the healing potential of cueing into our natural rhythms and encourages practitioners to align their self-care with principles of balance, rest, and regeneration.
