About this event

Reading is an art and a science. For decades, we have been searching for the best ways to engage and teach all our students. If you are curious to know in practical terms how the Science of Reading (SOR) research can be woven into your existing reading program, then this day is for you! In this seminar, outstanding literacy specialist and national presenter Annemarie Johnson will share not just HOW students best learn to read but WHAT you can specifically do to ensure their success as readers. Join Annemarie for a fast-paced day jam-packed with practical, use-tomorrow ideas. Supported by decades of research, these classroom-tested SOR strategies will enhance and strengthen your literacy instruction – no matter what reading program you use.

Annemarie will show you how to make the most of every reading lesson and how to implement these strategies seamlessly into any reading program as soon as you return to your classroom. You will leave with dozens of practical, ready-to-use SOR strategies!

As teachers of reading, we know the students who walk through the doors of our classrooms each year will have vastly different literacy experiences and abilities. We know that to ensure the literacy success of all our students, it is critically important to assess their needs and strengths and provide the right kinds of classroom instruction and intervention. The Science of Reading (SOR) research provides us with the information we need to support all students – those who struggle with literacy skills and those who are on or above level.

I am excited to share practical, effective practices, rooted in the science of how children learn to read, that you can add to your current reading program. I will also give you a wealth of practical ideas, strategies, tips, and tools you can use immediately to work with all your students, especially those who are struggling. Our day together will be filled with easy-to-implement, classroom-tested activities my students love – and yours will too.

Please join me for an engaging, fun, and worthwhile day that will give you practical ideas and abundant resources for implementing research-based, science-aligned practices in your classroom. Rest assured, whether you are a veteran, a brand-new teacher just starting out, or anywhere in between, EVERYONE will walk away with many quick, practical, and ready-to-use ideas for improving your students' phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills. I look forward to meeting you at the seminar and sharing my passion for literacy with you!

P.S. I have designed a special Science of Reading digital resource handbook for this seminar packed with dozens of innovative strategies, activities and mini-lessons that you can use immediately with your own students.
