Recommended audience

Anyone considering or planning to apply for and attempt to earn the Technology Leaders in Independent Schools (TLIS) certification.

Outcomes

This program aims to expand participants’ understanding of the certification requirements, what to expect on the exam, and how/where to find resources that will help them successfully achieve TLIS certification.

Agenda

• Introduce the TLIS domains and lens.
• Address technology for teaching and learning. Topics include leadership roles, how technology department structures align with school goals, and the impact of policy on the learning environment.
• Delve into independent school governance and leadership, discussing governance models, strategic planning, and governance structures.
• Focus on operations, covering budgeting, return on investment, project management, and operations scenarios.
• Provide participants with insights into professional development planning, instructional design, and test-taking strategies. Topics include differentiating training for staff and the backwards planning model.
• Review of test-taking tips and the TLIS testing environment.

Tye Campbell, TLIS

Tye came to Gilman in 2016 from New Jersey, where he had been Director of Technology at Far Hills Country Day School since 2013. Mr. Campbell got his start in information technology (IT) in the corporate world in New York City, where he was IT helpdesk and application support supervisor at Canon Business Process Services. A native of Brooklyn, New York, and graduate of St. Paul’s School in New Hampshire, Tye earned his B.S. in technical management from DeVry University.

Lauren Marold, TLIS

Lauren Marold is the Director of Innovative Learning for Preston Hollow Presbyterian School in Dallas, TX, a K–6th grade school serving students with mild to moderate learning differences. She has spent the past 18 years working in technology leadership and instructional roles within K–12 independent schools. Lauren has enjoyed her involvement with ATLIS and is an early alumni of the ALI program and a proud member of the TLIS Certification Council. She is also one of the hosts of The PHPS Difference podcast, where she explores meaningful topics that impact and inspire the PHPS community through the lens of learning difference education. In her role at PHPS, Lauren leads the school’s technology initiatives and infrastructure, oversees library services, and guides special projects that elevate innovative teaching and learning practices. She is deeply connected to the PHPS mission—having been diagnosed with dyslexia in second grade and now navigating the journey of parenting a child with learning differences.

Matthew Norko, TLIS
